In keeping with the annual tradition we established at our 25th anniversary, Tapestry Singers is delighted to honor an Austin-area high school senior in the treble singing voice range with $1,500 towards their higher education.
Our scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior who best demonstrates her/their love of vocal music, whether or not she/they plan to pursue an education or career in music. The applicant should sing in the treble voice range, have a passion for song and exemplify the principles and joyful spirit upheld by Tapestry Singers.
Interested applicants should fill out the online application following the requirements outlined below.
- Completion of all the contact information questions in the online application.
- An essay of 500 words on the prompt provided in the online application. We are not necessarily looking for the most accomplished singer or someone who plans to sing professionally, but for a young person who is joyfully passionate about singing – now and in the future.
- A music or voice teacher/director recommendation that can speak to the applicant’s musical interests and joy in singing.
Important Deadlines and Dates (2024):
April 19 – all applications are due by 11:59 PM, no exceptions
April 29 – winner of the scholarship will be notified
The recipient is invited to attend our concert on May 11th, where she/they will be announced and presented with a check. Two additional complimentary tickets will be provided to the recipient for her/their guests. We would also like to record a brief video with the recipient in an online informal interview to share with our members and post on our website and social media.
