Tapestry Singers Scholarship

Continuing the tradition established during our 25th anniversary, Tapestry Singers is delighted to award two Austin-area high school seniors in the treble voice range with scholarships of $3,000 each to support their higher education.

Our scholarship is suited to graduating high school seniors who best demonstrate their love of vocal music, whether or not they plan to pursue an education or career in music. The applicants should sing in the treble voice range, have a passion for song and exemplify the principles and joyful spirit upheld by Tapestry Singers.

The recipients are invited to attend our concert, “Brand New Day” on May 2nd at 7:30 PM at Northwest Hills Methodist Church, where they will be announced and presented with a check. Two additional complimentary tickets will be provided to each of the recipients for their guests. We also invite the recipients’ recommender to our concert.

Interested applicants should fill out the online application following the requirements outlined below.
1. Completion of all the contact information questions in the online application.

2. An essay of 500 words or less that describes:

a. Your unique self/spirit and how your life is and has been influenced & impacted by music and singing

b. How this scholarship will impact/support your future

c. Your plans for after high school, desires for your future, and how singing will play a part

d. The community and connections you’ve experienced and/or inspired through singing

3. A personalized recommendation from a teacher (school-related or private), mentor, or religious leader who is/has been part of your musical growth and development. This person should know you well enough to describe how you demonstrate or show a “passion for song” and how you exemplify the mission, principles, and joyful spirit upheld by Tapestry Singers.

Note: The ideal essay is less of a musical resume and more of your personal insights into your relationship with singing. We are not necessarily looking for the most accomplished singer or someone who plans to sing professionally, but for a student who is joyfully passionate about singing – now and in the future.
